1/20 HIGHLIGHTS: Amir Coffey Returns, But Gophers Lose at Madison Square Garden

With a quick turnaround from Thursday night’s loss to Maryland, the Golden Gophers were looking to bounce back against the Ohio State Buckeyes at Madison Square Garden, part of the Big Ten’s Super Saturday event.

The good news? Gophers sophomore Amir Coffey returned from a shoulder injury that had kept him out for five games.

The bad news? His presence didn’t seem to help much as Minnesota (14-8, 3-6) squandered an early 10-point lead and was blown out in the second half by the surprising Buckeyes (17-4, 8-0).

Minnesota lost the rebounding battle 41-34, shot just 50 percent at the free-throw line and 21 percent from beyond the arc. They’ve now lost five out of six Big Ten games.
