The consensus no. 1 running back in the draft, Saquon Barkley, a three-year college star, is sure to make one NFL offensive coordinator very happy.
He won Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in consecutive seasons at Penn State with monster campaigns in which he notched 1,898 and 1,903 yards from scrimmage, respectively, to go with 22 and 21 touchdowns in those two seasons. Barkley returned kickoffs his junior season and housed two of them. He also threw for a touchdown.
The 2017 Heisman finalist is the whole package. The only thing working against him is, well, that he’s a running back. Quarterback-needy teams may opt for a passer over Barkley, which is the only reason he might drop a handful of picks.
