NOTEBOOK: Wild Recall Victor Loov; Ryan White Signed

After being acquired from the Devils on Thursday for Mario Lucia and Christoph Bertschy, defenseman Victor Loov was recalled to Minnesota from Iowa on Friday.

“Loov gives us depth on defense down the stretch, especially with a tough schedule ahead,” said Iowa Wild general manager and Minnesota Wild assistant general manager Brent Flahr.

“I thought it was a positive thing,” Loov said of the move. On what he can bring to the Wild blue line, he said, “I can do a little bit of everything.”

The Swedish blueliner has played in just four games in his NHL career, tallying two assists with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2015-16 season. Head coach Bruce Boudreau said Loov will not play in Saturday’s game against Chicago, but he will be there in case the team needs him.

At the very least, he is a reminder to young defensemen Mike Reilly and Gustav Olofsson that their playing time is not at all safe after the injury to Jonas Brodin.

Uniform No. 28 was given to Loov, should he appear in a game with Minnesota this season.

Ryan White Signs With Iowa

Former Minnesota Wild forward Ryan White signed a standard player contract with the Iowa Wild on Friday morning. The contract is an AHL deal and does not count against Minnesota’s limit of 50, which was reduced to 49 yesterday in the Loov trade.

White, 29, was released Thursday by San Diego — Anaheim’s AHL affiliate — after tallying nine points in 21 games this season.

The winger was acquired by Minnesota last February in the Martin Hanzal trade. He appeared in 19 games with Minnesota after the trade, scoring two goals with an assist. White was not re-signed by the Wild and has signed PTOs with Vancouver, Boston and Anaheim since.

He has not appeared in any NHL games this season.

It is unclear if White will be in the lineup for Iowa on Friday night against Chicago, but he will more than likely be in Saturday night as the Wild host Rockford.

Devan Dubnyk plays in 400th career game

Minnesota Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk played in his 400th career NHL game on Thursday night against Arizona.

In those 400 games, Dubnyk is 190-146-41 with a 2.55 goals against average, .916 save percentage and 27 shutouts. He has spent parts of nine NHL seasons with Edmonton, Nashville, Arizona and Minnesota. After being acquired by the Wild on Jan. 15, 2015, Dubnyk is 120-64-17 with a 2.26 goals against average, .923 save percentage and 18 shutouts.

More recently, Dubnyk has a 2.10 goals against average and .931 save percentage since Dec. 29 for Minnesota.
