Wild Place Chris Stewart on Waivers

The Minnesota Wild announced this morning that they have placed veteran forward Chris Stewart on waivers.

In 47 games this season, the 30-year-old Stewart has tallied nine goals and four assists for the Wild. He has been a healthy scratch as of late, being in the press box for 10 of the past 15 games.

Minnesota is trying to get a bit more financial wiggle room by placing Stewart on waivers, as they hope to recall Luke Kunin from Iowa and sign prospect Jordan Greenway at some point.

I believe Chris Stewart has left arena. As I wrote in this article, my math tells me #mnwild have to unload a salaried player if they plan to recall Kunin at some point, sign Greenway, save space for injuries.

Stewart is in the final year of the two-year contract which he signed in the summer of 2016. The contract carries a cap hit of $1.15 million annually.
