Wild Sign Prospect Louie Belpedio

The Minnesota Wild, in conjunction with their AHL affiliate — the Iowa Wild –, announced today that they have signed defenseman prospect Louie Belpedio to an amateur tryout for the remainder of the season.

Minnesota’s 2014 third-round draft pick just completed his senior season with Miami (Ohio) last weekend, where the Red Hawks were eliminated by St. Cloud State in the NCHC playoffs.

During his college career, Belpedio — a right-hand shot — scored 83 points (25G-58A) in 135 career games. He finished his Miami career in fifth for goals scored by a defenseman and ninth in total points.

The 21-year-old will have his two-year entry-level contract begin next season, and he will more than likely begin the year with the Iowa Wild.
