Fantasy Perspective: Cardinals vs. Seahawks

This week it’s a good ole fashioned NFC West matchup and a tussle for first place in the division between the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks, who both sit at 6-3. I have to admit, as much fun as this game could end up being from a DFS perspective, it loses a little luster because of one position I’m completely staying away from.

Spread: Seattle -3

O/U: 57.5

MoneyLine: Seattle -170, Arizona +150

This is a game that can allow us a really interesting combination with a ton of starpower, but how do we put it together in a way that makes sense for us?

Oh Kyler, my Captain

Sometimes for lineup deviation I like to go against the grain, but let’s not overthink this. In the battle of Russell Wilson or Kyler Murray, you really can’t go wrong with either, since I think they’re both top three plays this week with very similar styles, but I’m rolling with the second-year guy out of Oklahoma. I know it’s chalk, but I don’t care. The upside is way too high.

The difference here is the rushing floor that Kyler has. He’s averaging over 65 rushing yards/game and has 10 rushing touchdowns this season. Let’s look at the first meeting this year when he went 34-48 for 360 yards and 3 TDs and ran for 67 yards and another score. Plus the Seahawks defense is historically bad against the pass. Yeah, count me in even at the high salary ($17,000 on FanDuel and $19,500 on DraftKings.)

Won’t touch this

If I knew Chris Carson was going to play he would be my choice, but between Carson’s foot, Hyde’s hamstring along with DeeJay Dallas, Travis Homer and the addition of Alex Collins (who scored last week), there’s just too many unknowns for me. Pete Carroll thinks Carlos Hyde will play and is “a little bit ahead of” Carson, who it sounds like the best case is returning in Week 12. Add in the Thursday night factor, and it all equals unappealing to me. Hard pass.

Seattle action

With the anticipation of a high scoring game, we want some solid action on Seattle, and if we’re staying away from Seahawks running backs, where do we look? Well it’s either D.K. Metcalf or Tyler Lockett, right?

Normally this would be a decision worth looking into, but as of right now, I’m fading Lockett strictly because of the knee. He had back-to-back DNP’s on Monday and Tuesday with what Carroll calls “a bit of a knee sprain,” but the severity is unknown. Right now he’s looking like he’s on the wrong side of questionable. IF he’s active, he’s a must-play. Last time these teams met he went off for 15 catches on 20 targets, 200 yards and three TDs. But that’s a BIG if.

On the other hand, if we pivot to Metcalf, people might be scared off by his terrible game against the Los Angeles Rams where he just had two catches for 28 yards. You know he’s going to bounce back, and why not against a team that they’ve already burned earlier?

So those are a few of the options I’m pondering, but it’s all about finding some value as well. I wouldn’t be opposed to a Murray/Kirk or Murray/Arnold stack for Arizona, since it could very well go against what I expect to be a popular Murray/Hopkins stack. Good luck and enjoy what could be some yummy fantasy goodness!
