Locks
MLB Red Sox/Rays Over 8.5 (-110): 6 PM CT on ESPN
With both games of this series clearing this number so far I actually expected a higher number for tonight’s game. While totals have been all over the place in baseball, I have to stick to what I know best and that is starting pitching matchups. The Rays added a big bat in Nelson Cruz and these teams can already score in a hurry. Now add in that both pitchers here have a WHIP of over 1.30 and the over starts to look even juicier. I think the ERA’s of the starters in this game are slightly misleading as Nick Pivetta and Shane McClanahan have done a good job of limiting damage and getting bailed out by their bullpens often. A total of 8.5 is just too low for these explosive offenses, especially for an ESPN game to finish off the weekend.
