For the life of me I still can’t figure out why the New York Yankees wanted to acquire a gas can like Andrew Heaney.
Instead of complaining though, I’ll target him here for this game being played in a cornfield that should allow the re-united Chicago White Sox lineup to mash. The South Siders finally have returned to health and can send right-handed bats for days at the left-handed Heaney, all with power, and all having familiarity with him. The White Sox tagged Heaney for 7 runs in 3 innings in his first start this season, and have hit lefties better, in general, all year.
I anticipate there will be some scoring on this Field of Dreams, but I don’t see it coming against AL Cy Young favorite Lance Lynn, so I’ll target the bad pitcher on the other side to get touched up again by this excellent Chicago lineup.
MLB (1 Unit) Toronto Blue Jays/L.A. Angels First 5 Innings Under 4.5 (-110) 8:38 PM CT on Bally Sports West
Both of these starting pitchers are red hot right now, and even with excellent offenses for both teams, I don’t see much scoring to start this game.
Playing for the Toronto Blue Jays seems to be doing wonders for José Berríos, he’s posted a 0.75 ERA in two starts with his new club. Berrios has also had a lot of success against the Los Angeles Angels, only allowing their lineup a career .141 average and .442 OPS against him.
Even more impressive is what Shohei Ohtani has been doing from the mound recently, posting a 1.38 ERA in his last 4 starts and only issuing one walk over those games for a 0.69 WHIP. And against a Toronto lineup full of right-handed bats, Ohtani should be able to shut them down — righties are batting just .148 with a .481 OPS against him.
This is a fantastic pitcher’s duel in the making, and should also make for a very low-scoring first five innings.
