The Toronto Blue Jays have really fallen off lately, and their struggling offense is a big reason why. A team that’s been top-5 all season long in everything from runs, average, slugging, OPS, and WAR now finds themselves towards the bottom half of the league for all of them in the past two weeks.
It’s no surprise then that the Jays have gone 10-5 under this team total in their past 15 games. They’re approaching rock bottom after scoring a total of 7 runs all weekend against Detroit Tigers pitching, and it doesn’t get any easier tonight. They welcome in AL Cy Young favorite Lance Lynn, who has a 1.50 ERA over his past 4 road starts, and has allowed 2 or fewer runs in 17 of 20 starts this season. The Chicago White Sox also have an excellent bullpen behind Lynn to close the door in what should be a tight, lower-scoring game.
Until Toronto turns it around at the plate, I’ll be fading their offense, and this is a great spot to do it against excellent pitching.
