The Cincinnati Reds just swept a four-game series with the Miami Marlins last weekend, and I think they continue their winning ways tonight. We also saw this exact pitching matchup in that series, with Wade Miley continuing to look like perhaps the best pitcher the Reds have.
The Marlins should struggle with Miley again as they’re 27th in average, OPS, and ISO power versus lefties, and 28th in runs scored. Zach Thompson has pitched pretty well overall this season, but Miami is just 3-9 in his starts and I see them dropping another here.
New York Yankees (-150) @ Oakland A’s 8:40 PM CT on NBCS-CA
The New York Yankees freight train keeps on rolling, and they’re really looking like they’re enjoying it. The big bats are hitting big home runs, the pitching has been lights out, and tonight they can further separate themselves in the wild card race. They’ll send Gerrit Cole to the mound in this one who has been nearly untouchable since returning from a short stint on the injury list. Cole also owns the Oakland A’s hitters, who he has held to a career .144 average, .460 OPS, and a ridiculous 36% K rate.
The usually reliable Sean Manaea has come apart in August with a 9.77 ERA, and I see the long list of powerful right-handed Yankee bats teeing off on the lefty. A team with 12 straight wins and their ace on the mound should be an easy way to close this parlay.
