A standalone national TV game in primetime is an excellent opportunity for Lane Kiffin to show off his offense, and spark the longshot Heisman campaign of QB Matt Corral. With another powerful offense from Louisville on the other side, this one has points written all over it and the highest total of the week is justified.
The Lane Train rolls on in Year 2 at Ole Miss, and we know Kiffin has zero hang-ups about running up the score. The Rebels offense should be able to score at will behind Corral, the perfect QB for Kiffin’s system with high accuracy, a big arm, and no fear. Ole Miss was able to hang 48 points on Alabama’s defense last year — one of 5 times they crossed the 40 point mark — and should only be better with another season of Corral and more time to implement Kiffin’s system.
The Ole Miss defense will continue to struggle, though, due to a lack of talent and the explosiveness of the offense, and Louisville should be able to exploit it. Scott Satterfield really knows offense, has an excellent dual-threat in QB Malik Cunningham back for another year and is saddled with his own defensive issues. I see these offenses lighting up the scoreboard while thin defenses wear down, so expect a shootout that gets over this big total.
