Josh Jacobs Gets Real About Jordan Love's Potential

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs made waves earlier this offseason when he confidently stated the team needed to add a true No. 1 wide receiver.

It was a classic situation of Everyone is thinking it, but who’s going to say it?

Well, Jacobs said it.

Appearing on Jon Gruden’s YouTube channel, Jacobs got real about Jordan Love.

Special, man. I don’t think people really know how good he is. I think he was like fifth in QBR this year, and that was a “down year” for him, supposedly.

[Love is] very poised. He’s one of them guys, man, where like he’s never rattled. He’s gonna stay and he’s gonna be the last guy in the building, he’s gonna be the first guy in the building. [Love] does everything the right way. He talks to the guys, has relationships with the guys.

Green Bay can take a collective sigh of relief.

Jacobs was outspoken on radio row in New Orleans, telling multiple shows and podcasts that the Packers need a proven wide receiver in the room. He softened the blow in later appearances, praising the young wideouts the team currently has while reiterating the need for a No. 1.

Given the wild inconsistency Green Bay’s wide receivers displayed in 2024, it’s hard to argue with Jacobs’ take.

Hearing him praise Love was reassuring and can’t be scoffed at given the brutal honesty Jacobs had just voiced about the need for a wideout.

Love had an up-and-down 2024 and took a step back from the second half of the 2023 season by some metrics.

He never established a true rhythm in the passing game late this year, and some believed it even regressed.

Meanwhile, Jacobs was a monster in the backfield and a top back leaguewide. When the passing game was sputtering, the Packers repeatedly leaned on Jacobs as a bell cow.

As for his thoughts on Love, Jacobs left no doubt.

When he gets on that field, his arm, the talent, I’m like, “Man, I think when he gets truly comfortable in his capabilities, what he can do, and then also within the offense, sky’s the limit for that dude.”

Let’s hope his intuition is correct.
