Are the Minnesota Timberwolves finally getting the recognition they deserved all along?

On Tuesday’s edition of “First Take,” Stephen A. Smith rolled through his list of Top 5 title contenders in the NBA based on where things currently stand.

The Wolves are finally getting some love from ESPN.

Stephen A. ranked the Wolves fourth and praised Minnesota for its playoff performance against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Ant Man has arrived. Last year he took out KD. Last year he took out (Nikola) Jokic. Luka (Doncic) took him out in the conference finals. He’s exacting revenge right now. He’s like a shark in blood-infested waters.

Stephen A. believes Minnesota will take out Los Angeles in six games. However, he thinks Anthony Edwards will have a different mindset.

I believe at this point you (Timberwolves) winning Game 6 because the Lakers winning Game 5. Ant Man is saying damn all that, we coming to take y’all out.

The most interesting thing about Stephen A.’s list is that he has the Wolves at No. 4 and the Golden State Warriors at No. 5. Minnesota and Golden State lead their series 3-1, setting them on a collision course to meet in the second round. Stephen A. Smith’s list shines some light on who he would take in that series, given that he has Minnesota ranked higher.

A Timberwolves-Warriors matchup would be cinema. You’d have the superstar matchup of Anthony Edwards against Stephen Curry. You’d have Jimmy Butler playing against his former team and the Rudy GobertDraymond Green element that throughout a best-of-seven series would certainly get chippy.

The first order of business is taking care of the Lakers.

Still, it’s good to see ESPN finally giving Minnesota some love.
