Playing right tackle for one of the best offensive lines in the country, Cody Ford did a lot his senior season to bolster his draft stock. Ford shed weight and helped the Sooners line – along with Dru Samia and Ben Powers – win the Joe Moore Award. He also has experience playing guard. The Louisiana native didn’t demonstrate much speed or strength at the Combine, but his tape displays more athleticism than his measurables. Could be a guard in the NFL. Visited the Vikings at their Top 30 event.

What the analysts say

“Ford offers a rare combination of physical and athletic traits that will have NFL teams dreaming of his upside. He is raw and relatively inexperienced as a starting tackle with exploitable holes that will need to be patched before he can thrive in the pros. As a tackle, he’s a developmental, high-risk/reward talent.” – Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

“There is no question that right now his physical and athletic gifts are superior to his polish, but Ford has the traits to be a top-tier player in the NFL. He needs refinement and proper coaching, preferably at tackle first and then moving to guard if he consistently struggles on the outside. Ford’s ceiling may be higher at guard, but his value could be greater at tackle if he hits. The redshirt junior should be one of the biggest risers of the pre-draft process and has a legitimate shot to be a first round pick.” – Jon Ledyard, The Draft Network
