Rodney Anderson essentially played just one out of four years at Oklahoma due to injury, but what a year it was. In 2017, he rushed for 13 touchdowns, caught five more and over 1,400 all-purpose yards to help out eventual top pick in quarterback Baker Mayfield. Anderson, though, missed 2015 with a broken leg, 2016 with a neck injury and most of 2018 with a torn ACL. That recovery has removed him from combine and Pro Day drills. His injury history rightfully will create caution in the market for him, but Anderson will be a valuable late-round flier for some team on Day 3.

What the analysts say

“Volume runner plagued by a history of injuries that could make teams wary of him until after completion of his combine medicals. Anderson has good size and instincts as an interior runner, but he lacks the juice to be a dynamic runner and might be forced to earn his living as a downhill hammer with the ability to leak out on swing passes. His lack of elusiveness and history of season-ending injuries could force him to earn his stripes early on from the lower rung of a running back depth chart.” – Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

“Rodney Anderson is a multifaceted back that blends size, power and elusiveness to form an intriguing prospect. With significant season-ending injuries in 2015, 2016 and 2018, his health is a major red flag to his evaluation. If he can stay healthy, Anderson has the upside to be a feature back in the NFL. He fits best to a gap/power run scheme but can also produce as a receiver. Assuming he’s healthy, by year three, Anderson has the ability to be a starter that commands 15-20 touches per game and is highly productive.” – Joe Marino, The Draft Network
