BIG PICTURE
Former high school sprinter Devin Duvernay finally got to harness his speed as a standout slot receiver as a senior at Texas. Came into the school as a four-star prospect and put together three serviceable seasons before moving inside last year and busting out to the tune of 1,386 yards and nine receiving touchdowns. Used his blazing speed in the screen game but also showed the capability to get deep. Thrives in getting yards after the catch. Has worked as a kick returner. Could be a great NFL weapon if utiilzed properly. Duvernay is cousins with Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
COMBINE NOTABLES

4.2 20-yard shuttle (3rd)
VIKINGS COMPATIBILITY RANKING
4.5 out of 5. The Vikings should certainly be interested in Duvernay if he falls out of the first 100 picks. His eye-catching speed and potential special teams prowess could be a tremendous asset.
HIGHLIGHTS
WHAT DRAFT EXPERTS SAY
Lance Zierlein, NFL.com: “Straight-line speedster with a fireplug build who needs to close the ability gap between when the ball is in his hands and when it’s not. Duvernay is a challenging study because he carries long speed but he’s not a ball winner. He’s a slot receiver with tight hips and below-average routes but has outstanding hands and uses power to add yards after catch. The pieces don’t quite fit together, but great hands, YAC and speed are traits teams might look to mold. He’s not a classic developmental prospect but could become one if a team has a plan for him and can improve his routes.”
Joe Marino, Draft Network: “Texas wide receiver Devin Duvernay brings an exciting blend of explosive speed, outstanding hands and an alpha mentality that makes him dangerous from the slot. He is dynamic with the football to create for himself and he catches everything with the ability to win most foot races. With that said, his lack of separation quickness and agility due to tightly wound hips presents unique challenges for a slot receiver that is expected to uncover against man coverage. Duvernay has enough redemptive traits to profile as a starter but he doesn’t come without restrictions.”
