Molesky's Weekend Wagers: Conference Championship Weekend

If you bet with me last weekend, then you are probably still counting the cash we made after going 5-1 on bets. But now is no time to sit and enjoy the winnings. It’s time to get back out their and make some holiday cash.

Here are your weekend bets:

Georgia Bulldogs vs. Auburn Tigers

Betting Bulldogs +110 Money Line

The revenge game is on, but the Tigers will be down their 1,000-yard running back Kerryon Johnson. The Bulldogs are on the cusp of a playoff berth, and will not make the same mistake twice.

The key in this game will be protecting Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm. In the first meeting, the Tigers defense had no respect for the passing attack. They focused on the ground game and trusted the blitz to get home. In this game the Bulldogs will look to get creative blocking and chipping the edge rushers, along with screening to their backs to keep the Auburn linebackers honest.

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Ohio State Buckeyes

Betting Badgers +5.5 Point Spread

The Badgers have a real shot at winning this game, especially since Buckeyes quarterback J.T. Barrett may still be nursing a knee injury at kickoff. Whether he is able to play throughout the game or not, the Wisconsin rushing attack is the dominating force in this one, with impressive freshman back Jonathan Taylor leading the way.

Taylor has put up 1,806 yards and 13 touchdowns behind a destructive offensive line that helps him to seven yards per carry. While Wisconsin’s quarterback Alex Hornibrook is always good for a turnover, but the team has a very good defense and will take the ball out of his hands early and often.

Cleveland Browns @ Los Angeles Chargers

Betting Chargers -14 Point Spread

It is the Browns. We do this every weekend.

Kansas City Chiefs @ New York Jets

Betting Chiefs -170 Money Line

The Chiefs have looked awful. If they want to get back to their winning ways, they need to get back to stretching the field and going for the deep ball. They need to hurt opposing secondaries with long balls to Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, then get running back Kareem Hunt going.

The Jets gave the Panthers a run for their money, but the roster talent on the Chiefs is so much greater than that of the Jets.

Other Bets

San Antonio Spurs @ Memphis Grizzlies

Betting Spurs -4 Point Spread

The Grizzlies are a mess right now. They just fired head coach David Fizdale, and have had locker room problems with Marc Gasol and his benching. Meanwhile, star point guard Mike Conley is still injured. This is as solid an NBA road bet as they come.

TCU Horned Frogs vs. Oklahoma Sooners

Betting Horned Frogs +7.5 Point Spread

TCU was slapped by the Sooners in their first meeting by 18 points, but they will bounce back in a big way. TCU’s defense has been phenomenal this season, holding opponents to 15.7 points per game. They have also secured an impressive 40 sacks this season and can create plenty of pressure on the offense.

The TCU performance against Oklahoma was more of an outlier than a standard. Containing Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield will be the first priority for the Horned Frogs front. This will be a low-scoring, tight game that comes down to three or four points. At worst, TCU loses by a touchdown. Still, it’s a solid bet.
