ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Friday afternoon that Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford had an MRI to look into some “swelling” and “discomfort” in his left knee.
According to Mortensen, while the MRI did not reveal any significant damage, it is more difficult to get a clear scan of a surgically-repaired knee. Bradford has torn the ACL in his left knee twice before.
The quarterback, coming off a career-best passer rating in Monday’s performance against the New Orleans Saints, participated in individual drills that were open to the media throughout the week, but he was listed as “limited” on the team’s injury report on Wednesday and Thursday.
Head coach Mike Zimmer would not confirm that Bradford had the MRI or acknowledge any specific concerns about Bradford’s health. “I anticipate that he will [play],” said Zimmer.
Case Keenum is the only other active quarterback on the roster. If Bradford is going to miss Sunday’s game, the team will likely need to activate or sign a backup quarterback. Kyle Sloter is the practice squad quarterback, but he has been with the team less than two weeks.
