After finding themselves back in the win column on Thursday afternoon in a win over Washington, the Minnesota Lynx fell to the red-hot Connecticut Sun on Saturday.
The Lynx got behind early in the game, ultimately falling to the Sun 89-75.
Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore continued their strong starts to the season to lead the way for Minnesota. Fowles finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds — yet another double-double — while Moore had a nice all-around game with 17 points, five rebounds and four steals.
The Lynx didn’t provide much help for Fowles and Moore, however. The rest of the starting five – Rebekkah Brunson, Lindsay Whalen and Seimone Augustus — combined to score six points on 2-of-9 shooting.
Cecilia Zandalasini, who has slowly earned more playing as of late, added a nice spark off the bench for Minnesota, tallying 11 points and three rebounds in 12-plus minutes. Alexis Jones added nine points and four assists backing up Whalen.
The Lynx offensive struggles were apparent in the loss, shooting 37.3 percent from the field, while also uncharacteristically getting out-rebounded 38-33 in the game.
Courtney Williams was on fire for Connecticut, which improved to 7-1 with the win. Williams finished with a team-high 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field.
Minnesota will get a full week off before it returns to action on June 16 at Target Center. The Lynx will host the New York Liberty at 7 p.m.
