REPORTS: Shabazz Muhammad Seeking Trade or Release from Timberwolves

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Shabazz Muhammad wants to make a final exit from Minnesota.

The report, published on ESPN.com Saturday afternoon, states Muhammad is seeking a release or a trade from the Timberwolves by the time Thursday’s trade deadline hits.

Muhammad’s representatives recently made the request to the Timberwolves front office, the report says. Players are not allowed to publicly request a trade without incurring a fine.

Muhammad started the year as a rotational wing, and even got some time as the starting small forward during Jimmy Butler’s absence in October. His shooting percentages, though, hit career lows this season, resulting in an eventual removal from the rotation.

Muhammad signed a two-year, veteran-minimum deal with the Timberwolves with a player option on the second year. He reportedly turned down a four-year, $40 million deal prior to the 2016-17 season.
