There’s no reason to beat around the bush with some eloquent setup to a well-thought-out article here so let’s just get right to it. The officiating in the NFL this season has been terrible. It’s a fact. Week in and week out millions of fans shell out their hard-earned money to support their favorite teams only to watch their games be altered by shockingly bad calls.
Although there should be no arguments made against furthering player safety, the judgment calls made around personal fouls seem to affect big moments in this league continuously. With the new edition of taunting penalties things have gotten completely out of control.
The issue got a prime-time platform last night on Monday Night Football as a crucial taunting penalty played a major role.
Among the many who are justifiably frustrated, Adam Thielen has decided to publicly speak up.
Quoting PGA golfer Justin Thomas’tweet, Thielen offered up the sort of words that would likely get you fined if you mentioned them in a post-game press conference. But he’s speaking the thoughts that we’ve all been thinking for years.
It’s easy to understand why Thielen would be extra upset this week after a bogus horse collar in the first quarter of Sunday’s overtime loss handed the Raven a free three points. The NFL has a real problem on their hands here, and if they don’t get a handle on it you can expect players and fans to just get louder and louder with their frustration.
