When an NFL superstar puts out a tweet blasting the critics of another NFL superstar, that’s the sort of thing that usually gets some attention.
The tweet shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone who follows Justin Jefferson. As alumni of the same college, Jefferson has a strong tie to Odell Beckham Jr. and even did his best to persuade him away from the Vikings’ main rival when he became a free agent.
As Jefferson’s tweet made the rounds this morning, it found its way to Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe’s daily shouting match.
Bayless, the real life version of one of those Muppets that shouts from the balcony, laid out his thoughts on the young receivers tweet saying “I realize that Justin Jefferson idolizes Odell from their LSU roots, but what he tweeted was flat-out clownish.”
Luckily for people who don’t like being shouted at by their grandpa, Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe was there to agree with Jefferson and explain to the people exactly why he was correct.
There is certainly a generation of fans that wishes its players would just shut up and play football. Whether it be off-the-field issues, on the field trash talk, or social media behavior; there’s a type of fan that wants nothing more than the games. But this is the world we live in now. Athletes are now 24-hour personalities and them weighing into situations will only become more and more common. And theres a big contingent of NFL fans that want exactly that. More access to their lives and more access to their personal opinions.
And with that contingent in mine, and for good measure in support of Jefferson, I present this.
