Peter Schrager Goes Off On De'Vondre Campbell Pro Bowl Snub

Ridiculous. Idiotic. Insane. Any of these words work when describing the De’Vondre Campbell absence from this year’s NFC Pro Bowl roster. Good Morning Football’s Peter Schrager, one of the most respected analysts in the country, chose the word “egregious.”

On the Friday morning show Schrager went hard at the outrageous miss. “I don’t get into the market of Pro Bowl snubs too often. It’s a place you go on Twitter to just be angry and mad and it’s low hanging fruit” Schrager said. “But my gosh was there a Pro Bowl snub this year! Can we get a shout out my guy for the Green Bay Packers, De’Vondre Campbell, who was completely left on the NFC Pro Bowl roster? The most egregious thing that I have seen in Pro Bowl snub history! This man right here has 83 tackles, has been the glue of the Packers defense, and his story is so good!”

Maybe the most impressive part of Campbell’s run is his ability to do it with everything crumbling around him. “He signs on with Green Bay, on a team that had been struggling at the linebacker position” Schrager noted, “and has gone on with injuries to everyone else to be a defensive leader.”

The reality is that the Pro Bowl is a popularity contest where retweets count as votes. It’s why most NFL contracts now hook their incentives to first and second team honors as opposed to Pro Bowl appearances. That being said, it’s still ridiculous that Campbell didn’t get his due. If he keeps playing the way he has been, there should be a ton of credit coming both his way and in the direction of the man who signed him, Brian Gutekunst.
