Stephen A. Smith Goes Ballistic On Kirk Cousins

The clock hadn’t struck 11:00 am CT yet, and Stephen A. Smith is straining his vocal cords arguing about the Dallas Cowboys. What’s new? First Take loves to get hysterical about an NFC East team that was eliminated from the playoffs a month ago.

However, the debate between Stephen A. and his guest, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, took an interesting turn when Kirk Cousins’ name came up. In a debate about whether Dak Prescott is holding the Cowboys back, the Mad Dog used Cousins as a Mendoza Line for quarterbacks.

“Life on the line,” Russo prompted, “do you think [Dak is] better than Kirk Cousins?”

First of all, you should never depend on Cousins if your life is on the line. He doesn’t have defibrillation blocked out in his iPhone calendar, and you don’t want him to check down to giving you mouth-to-mouth if he can’t find the AED down the hallway.

“Hell yes!” Stephen A. screamed in response to the Mad Dog, his voice cracking.

“Alright,” Russo said, about to jump into his take.

“Hold on! Hold on!” Stephen A. shouted, cutting him off. “I’m going to disqualify you from this show. You’re gonna bring up Kirk Cousins? Kirk Cousins!”

Bringing up Cousins is an automatic disqualification from First Take. Noted.

“Kirk Cousins won a playoff game on the road!” bleated Russo.

“Oh my God! Kirk Cousins!” Stephen A. screamed in disbelief.

“Did Dak Prescott win a playoff game on the road?” Russo asked sincerely.

“No,” Stephen A. respond in disgust. “C’mon, man. C’mon, man. Football is a team sport.”

“I’m not in love with Cousins, either,” Russo responded defensively before screaming incoherently.

The whole exchange is hilarious and worth watching if only to see their facial expressions as they react to one another. God bless Stephen A. and the Mad Dog. God bless Kirk Cousins. God bless football talk in mid-February.
