Aaron Jones Shares Important Jordan Love Practice Moment

As the football world awaits Jordan Love’s first start as the official leader of the Green Bay Packers opinions about the fourth year quarterback’s potential are coming in left and right. Peter King is busy identifying Love’s biggest challenges whilst Colin Cowherd is dramatically dedicating a segment of his show to why, based on one preseason appearance, he doesn’t believe Jordan Love is “special.”

But if one were interested in learning about Love outside of the echo chamber that is hot take sports, Rich Eisen gave Green Bay Packers fans that opportunity. On Mondays edition of the popular Rich Eisen Show on the NNFL Network the long time host had Packers star Aaron Jones on to discuss his new starting quarterback and all things Green Bay. Jones, a fervent supporter of love, used the opportunity to share a private moment from practice to demonstrate Love’s growing leadership.

“One of the practices the offense, we weren’t having that good of a day, and Jordan just stopped everything we were doing and called us up and kinda let the offense have it a little bit.” Jones told Eisen. “Not in a bad way but like, ‘C’mon, we gotta pick this up. Is this what we want to be?’ And all the guys were like, ‘No, of course not. Him just having a voice, everybody respecting what he’s saying. When he speaks, everybody listens. I told him right after he did it, that’s we needed. It can’t always come from the same person. If it always comes from me it might sound like beating a dead horse. But if it comes from somebody else who’s very well-respected and the leader of our team, then those guys are gonna listen. Not to say that they won’t listen to me or anything but when it’s your quarterback, it’s your quarterback.”

This is the exact sort of story you want to hear out of Packers training camp. Jordan Love absolutely has the athleticism and the arm strength to play in this league. What has yet to be proven is if he possesses the processing ability and leadership to run an offense at the highest level. Jones’ comments are a big step in the right direction in terms of leadership.

The whole interview with Eisen was absolutely fantastic. Click the play button below to watch.

Anyone who tells you they know where Jordan Love’s career will ultimately go is out of their mind. There are just too many unknowns. But as we approach his first full season as a starter, it’s wise to place more weight on the guys in the huddle and less on the guys(like me) who get paid to write and talk about those huddles.
