Round and round the Aaron Rodgers trade saga goes. Where it ends and what it will cost, does anyone truly know?

The annual NFL owners meetings gave birth to soundbites, reports, and theories about when and how the Rodgers trade will be completed.

Peter King, the reliable creator of the Monday Morning QB, was at the meetings and walked away with supreme confidence in his understanding of the situation. King appeared on Colin Cowherd’s Fox Sports’ show “The Herd” and gave a declaration of an Aaron Rodgers trade timeline.

“It really doesn’t matter when this deal is going to get done. It’s going to get done.” King stated confidently. “And that’s why honestly I don’t think it’s that big of a deal that it hasn’t happened yet. It’s March 31st. This thing will get done before the draft. If I’m wrong I will come on your show and you can pelt me with tomatoes. But this is going to happen before the draft because the Packers do not want to get zero return in this year’s draft For Aaron Rodgers. So I believe part of the compensation will be a two this year and then it’ll be something else in the future draft and that’s the way it should be.”

If King, who is not known for hot takes, is willing to stake his reputation on that timeline you can likely bet on it. The reasoning is sound. The Packers want to start the Jordan Love era off with a bang. Not waiting for their Rodgers routine is key in that desire.

Cowherd complimented the Packers consistency as an organization while prodding King for details on Gutekunst’s decision to move on from Rodgers.

“They draft and develop.” Cowherd said. “They don’t like drama. They’re very responsible. They’re responsible fiscally, on the draft, and on trades. How difficult do you think moving off Aaron is? Or do you think Aaron made it easy for Brian Gutekunst?”

King wasted no time in making the decision seem simple.

“I think there is absolutely, totally, unequivocally, nothing different between what Ted Thompson did with Brett Favre 15 years ago this month and what Brian Gutekunst is doing right now with Aaron Rodgers.“ King replied. “Of course it is a heavy heavy decision by both general managers. But it’s really in both cases, I’m not saying it’s the only decision that they could make, but it feels like the Aaron Rodgers expiration date in Green Bay is here. And it’s time.”

Despite its unlikelihood Packers fans will hope this trade will also unequivocally resemble the results of the Brett Favre trade.
