NBA Analyst Says KAT Is Destined For Washington

Bill Simmons had his good friend Joe House on his latest podcast to break down the Bradley Beal trade and go over Simmons’ trade value list. Simmons brought Karl-Anthony Towns’ name up when discussing mock trades involving Bradley Beal.

“Would you take Karl Towns?” asked Simmons.

“Oh my god, yes,” House responded. “Definitely!”

“See, I think that’s too much for Beal,” avers Simmons.

“He’s destined for Washington,” House offered.

“No, that’s too much for him, though,” repeated Simmons.

“He would be perfect in Washington,” House continued. “No pressure at all on him, speaking of beta.”

“You’d almost have to expand that,” said Simmons, referring to the trade. “That would have to be a megadeal. Like [Kristaps] Porzingis would have to be in that. You’d get the Porzingis-Gobert Twin Towers.”

“Okay?” House responded, not against the idea. “Should we hold onto Porzingis?”

Later in the podcast, Simmons revealed that he had Towns as the 33rd most valuable player in the league.

“I don’t know if Towns is too high or too low,” questioned Simmons.

“I don’t know the answer to that, either,” House admitted.

“He makes just a crazy amount of money,” Simmons emphasized. “His contract absolutely makes you throw up in your mouth. “

“It’s an impossible situation to get a read on, that Minnesota team,” offered House. “Because Chris Finch, was he an active participant in trying to get Rudy Gobert there? Was he on board with management?”

“How about Tim Connelly?” asked Simmons. “He built a lot of that Nuggets team, at least the foundation of the top three guys. Plus, he drafted Porter. And then he goes to Minnesota, and he makes the worst trade of the last 15 years. So people are like, ‘Congrats to him on the Nuggets, but meanwhile, he’s just in a f—ing 8 millimeter, James Gandolfini snuff film.”

“I have to push back a teeniest, tiniest bit on the worst trade of the last 15 years,” House countered, “because Travis Schlenk, who’s now in Washington, DC – and I don’t know if he golfs or not, I’d like to take him out – said he can explain to me why he traded the rights to Luka Doncic for Trae Young, which is the worst trade of the last 15 years.”

“I think he got Cam Reddish out of it,” Simmons stated. “I think the Gobert trade is worse than the Luka trade.”

“What?!?” House responded, shocked.

“That Gobert trade is staggering,” Simmons offered.

As a Washington Wizards fan, House would take Towns on his team. But it’s probably not happening. Connelly appears committed to the Minnesota Timberwolves’ core, and the Wolves wouldn’t trade Towns for Beal.

Still, it’s hard to hear two experts suggest that Towns is greatly overpaid and that the Gobert trade is one of the worst in the last 15 years.
