The Minnesota Timberwolves today held an introductory press conference for Kris Dunn, the fifth player selected in the 2016 NBA Draft. Below are a few quotes from Dunn, as well as Timberwolves president-coach Tom Thibodeau and general manager Scott Layden.

Thibodeau: “We want to welcome Kris and his family to our organization. We were thrilled that he was available to us. He brings a lot of the characteristics that we’re looking for; hardworking, smart, driven, a big-time winner, the type of person who can unite and inspire your team who makes everyone around him better. And then of course, the way he plays; his defense, rebounding, ability to get to the line, ability to make plays, very good in pick-and-rolls and his size. We think his overall size at his position is critical.”

Layden: “In the NBA it’s so hard to find two-way players. Having Kris here, and then combining him with coach Thibs, is exciting for me and I think it’s going to be exciting for our team. The other thing is how hard it is to find good point guards. To have Kris here, to start his career here, we can’t be happier.”

Dunn: “I’m very excited to be here. I have my family here with me to enjoy this special moment today. I can’t wait to see the fans. I can’t wait to see all of the beautiful people around here. When I landed, it was beautiful. The weather was nice, everything was nice about it. The facility is great, I got to look around a little bit. I love the facility. I got to talk to coach, me and him interacted a little bit. I can’t wait to just play. I’m glad to be here, glad to be a Wolf.

Dunn, on playing with Ricky Rubio: “I think he’s a great point guard. We’re both pass-first point guards, I can’t wait to learn from him.”

Dunn, on playing with Kevin Garnett: “We have hall of famer, for sure, on our team: KG. I can’t wait to meet him, learn and get advice from him. I’m a try to soak it all in before he goes. I don’t know how long he’s going to be in the league for, so I’m a ask [KG] as many questions as I can.”

Dunn, on playing both the 1 and 2 spots: “Whatever coach needs me to do, I’m a go out there and try to do it. Imma try to accomplish what he needs me to get done. I feel like I can play the 1 position or the 2 position, whatever he needs me to do.”
