The 5 Best New Concessions at Timberwolves Games

With a new court, a new logo, a new arena, and a bolstered Timberwolves roster headed to the Target Center this season, now seemed like a perfect time to improve the concessions menu as well.

Headed by Timberwolves and Lynx Executive Chef David Fhima, the Target Center now has improved existing classic dishes – things like chicken fingers, french fries, popcorn and hot dogs – and added some dishes never offered at the Target Center before.

I was lucky enough to get an opportunity to sample some of the new options that will be made available when the season begins. Below is my top 5:

5: Pork Fries

A combination of french fries, pulled pork, barbeque sauce, queso and jalapeños are blended perfectly. The best surprise is the improved crispiness of the french fries; a major improvement from the fries of Target Center past.

4. Parlour Burger

The big story here isn’t about some fancy new ingredient. In fact, this is a simple beef patty burger with swiss cheese and pickles. The big story here is, simply, the taste and quality. The buns are yeast-free and organic, and you can taste the difference. Juicy burgers, quality cheese, and quality bread make for a much-improved burger.

3. Sotarol Sushi Burrito

Personally, I’ve never been big on sushi. These burritos, however, are stellar and great for a sushi beginner like myself. A couple different options are available, and while I only had the traditional style, I will go back to try other types.

2. Lord Fletcher’s Walleye Sandwich

The most Minnesotan dish available, this walleye sandwich has everything a local would want in a Minnesota dish. The walleye was fresh and juicy, the lettuce was garnished properly, and the nuts that top it give it a crunch. Get this sandwich, throw on a Prince record, and watch a Wolves game. About as Minnesotan as it gets.

1. The variety of Brat and Hot Dog Options

The Timberwolves were always lacking in some of the food staples that come with watching live pro sports. They never had a quality hot dog, nor a quality brat. Not only do they have that now, they have a variety for every type of flavor you’d want. In addition to regular hot dogs, they offer a Kimchi hot dog. And in addition to a traditional bratwurst, they also have cranberry cognac, whiskey peppercorn, cheddar and bacon brats all available. The quality and the variety are on such a high level, it’s hard to even fathom that they used to offer such an inferior product in past years. This is absolute premium eating, and a must-get when checking out the new Wolves. At least one of them, anyway.
