Timberwolves Assign Justin Patton to G League Affiliate Iowa Wolves

It might be nearly time to see the Timberwolves’ lone rookie in action. It just won’t be in Minnesota right away.

The Timberwolves announced today that Justin Patton, a first-round pick in the 2017 draft, was sent down to the Iowa Wolves, the team’s new G League affiliate.

Patton has yet to play a minute in the NBA due to a broken fifth metatarsal in his left foot suffered shortly after getting drafted. In addition to the regular season, he’s missed Summer League, training camp and all of the preseason.

He joins Timberwolves two-way contract signee Anthony Brown in Des Moines, who has spent most of this season with the G League affiliate.

UPDATE: Head coach Tom Thibodeau said at Sunday’s practice that Patton could play as soon as Friday, assuming he gets a couple practices under him first.
