New York Yankees ML (-103): I’m very aware of how dominant Shane Bieber has been during this shortened season, but I believe in Gerrit Cole and this Yankee lineup will overcome that. This Yankee team is the most talented team in baseball as DJ LeMahieu so humbly put it yesterday, and unfortunately I agree with him. New York is beyond stacked with Giancarlo Stanton, LeMahieu, Luke Voit, Aaron Judge, Gio Urshela, Clint Frazier, Gary Sanchez, Gleyber Torres, Aaron Judge and who could ever forget the always annoying Brett Gardner? The Indians have been hot, but look for Cole to show why he won last year’s Cy Young award, and for the Yankees to rudely welcome them back into the postseason today in “Bronx Bomber” fashion.
Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 (+110): The Rays are much better than Toronto in pretty much all aspects of the game. Tampa Bay is constantly overlooked because of their reduced payroll, their awful stadium and lack of general success in probably the best division in baseball — but this is their chance to make a little noise. Few people realize just how good they’ve been the last two years. They’re up against a Toronto team that really doesn’t have an ace in Matt Shoemaker, and I expect the Rays to be able to show everyone why they deserve the No. 1 seed.
