MLB – Royals ML vs. Rays (-110): 7:10 PM CT
Few teams are off to a better start than Danny Duffy and the Kansas City Royals. K.C. is 9-5 heading into action against a Tampa Bay Rays team that probably let too many guys go in the offseason. Duffey currently has a 0.75 ERA, so look for him to continue his solid start behind the bats of Salvador Perez and Co.
In basically a pick ‘em, I’m rolling with the home team and taking the Royals in this one.
Degenerates
NBA – Jazz -7 vs. Lakers (-110): 9:00 PM CT on ESPN
This Los Angeles Lakers team has played better than people expected in the absence of their two superstars. When Anthony Davis and LeBron James went down, it was clear that this team’s supporting cast would have to pick up their games in a big way. Guys like Dennis Schröder and Andre Drummond have done just that.
On the other side, we have a Utah Jazz team trying to find its new identity with Donovan Mitchell sidelined due to an ankle injury. The Lakers just beat the Jazz in overtime, so I have a feeling Utah is going to be ready to go today. This spread would be bigger with Mitchell in but this Jazz supporting cast is better than the Lakers so look for them to get right with guys like Jordan Clarkson, Rudy Gobert, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Joe Ingles picking up the slack for the injured Mitchell.
