MLB – Twins ML @ Brewers (EVEN): 1:10 PM CT on Bally Sports North
The Minnesota Twins are going up against Adrian Houser who had a 5-plus ERA in a shortened 2020 season while accumulating a 1-5 record, including a loss to the Twins. With an even line that’s too good of an opportunity to pass up.
Michael Pineda is no Cy Young, but he makes his season debut for the Twins today and is expected to be one of their more reliable starters. Minnesota won on the hard work of their pitching staff yesterday, and while Pineda is capable of throwing a gem, I expect the Twins’ bats to wake up on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
It’s still early but I think we know enough about these two teams to take Minnesota in a pick ‘em game against Houser and the Brew Crew.
NBA – 76ers -3 vs. Grizzlies (-110): 6:00 PM CT
This one was pretty easy for me to throw in once I realized how small of a spread this is for the Philadelphia 76ers against a not-great Memphis Grizzlies team.
First of all, check the injury report. Philadelphia is on a back-to-back after having to deal with the worst team in the league and Joel Embiid is known to take extra time off. If he is ruled out, this line might move in our favor a bit. But to be honest, I think it’s already factoring in him being out and I still like Philly.
Memphis’s last five wins have come against the lowly Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Oklahoma City Thunder, plus the Boston Celtics without Jayson Tatum and the Golden State Warriors without Steph Curry. As long as two out of three play between Ben Simmons, Embiid, and Tobias Harris, I expect Philadelphia to cover this short spread.
No degenerates today.
