Could Isaiah Neyor Make Green Bay's Final Roster?

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Isaiah Neyor has repeatedly made an impression throughout the offseason program. The second-year receiver originally signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted rookie last year before finding his way to Green Bay just three months later.

“I’d say it’s night and day for him,” LaFleur said of Neyor last week. “He’s really shown a lot of flashes of excellence. He’s another big, long guy that can run. You can never have enough of those guys, especially at that position. I’m excited about what’s to come from training camp for him.”

Neyor checks a lot of the boxes Green Bay typically looks for at the position. At 6’4”, 218 lbs., he has prototypical size for an outside receiver, and his testing numbers were equally impressive. He earned a 9.90 Relative Athletic Score and ran a 4.40-second 40-yard dash.

It wasn’t the first time Neyor has generated buzz during an offseason program. Around this time last year, when Neyor was with the Niners, George Kittle spoke about the rookie receiver during an appearance on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast.

“He’s a good kid. I like him,” Kittle said. “He’s a freak. He is really tall. I watched him, he was running a route, and he got like nine and a half yards in two strides. I was like, ‘Holy s–t.’ It was insane. We watched it like 10 times as the tight end room. We’re like, ‘How is he doing this?'”

Notably, The Athletic‘s Matt Barrows compared Neyor to Randy Moss during his time with the 49ers.

“The most visibly striking receiver in the minicamp was undrafted rookie Isaiah Neyor,” he said. “He cuts a Randy Moss-like silhouette with a thin frame and long arms and legs. His big stride gobbles up yardage and immediately forces cornerbacks to turn and run with him.”

Green Bay has already signed Christian Watson and Jayden Reed on extensions this offseason, while first-round pick Matthew Golden should command a bigger share of targets immediately. That leaves fewer openings in a crowded receiver room.

In recent years, the Packers have carried six wideouts on their initial 53-man roster. Neyor will likely be in the mix with players like Skyy Moore, Bo Melton, Brenden Rice, and Will Sheppard as they all try to secure one of those last jobs.

That said, with Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks no longer in the mix, the Packers could feel inclined to keep more wide receivers than they usually do on the final roster. Injuries are also always a factor, so Green Bay will need enough depth to stay prepared across the season.

Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, and Savion Williams will all make Green Bay’s roster. Skyy Moore will also likely stick around thanks to his value as a return specialist. Among the remaining contenders, Neyor feels like the most well-rounded option. He will have all summer to make his case. If he puts it all together in camp and preseason, he has a path to earning that final roster spot.
