NCAA Football Notre Dame/North Carolina Over 68 (-110): Notre Dame has somewhat of an undeserved reputation as a strong defense, in my opinion. So far they’ve feasted on the weakest offenses in the ACC in five of their games, but in the other three games against quality offenses the Irish are allowing over 30 PPG. This North Carolina offense that averages almost 43 PPG will be the best they’ve faced yet this strange season. The Tar Heels are a shootout machine, with their last three games all hitting at least 80 total points. They simply have too many weapons for any team to slow them down effectively, and their defense should allow enough points to a good Notre Dame offense to get this one over the 68 mark. North Carolina can’t stop a clock on defense, so on a perfect day in Chapel Hill, on national TV, I’m expecting fireworks all game long.

NCAA Basketball Gonzaga -13 vs. Auburn (-110): Well, Gonzaga proved everything they needed to prove for me in one game. What they did against a Kanas defense was no fluke, and I expect this deep and ultra-talented Zags team to be hanging 100+ regularly. Auburn comes into this game already outmatched and having just escaped in OT against St Joseph’s. They’re also without dynamic freshman guard Sharife Cooper, so I don’t see a way for the Tigers to match up on the perimeter against the elite guard trio of Joel Ayayi, Jalen Suggs, and Andrew Nembhard. A young Bruce Pearl team usually struggles on defense, and we just saw Gonzaga shoot a ridiculous 64% from the field. I expect the Zags to run them out by something more like 20.

Degenerates

College Football Iowa State +1 vs. Texas (-110): I put this pick in the degenerate section because I graduated from Iowa State, but the reality is this team is really good. Brock Purdy is only getting stronger as the year goes on and Breece Hall has been an absolute monster all season on the ground for the Cyclones. Matt Campbell’s teams have for some reason had a tough time starting their season against lower competition, but as the season goes on they only get stronger and this is Iowa State’s strongest team yet. Sam Ehlinger is always a threat to get hot but I’m rolling with the ‘Clones in what should be a great Big 12 battle to potentially put one of these teams in the top 10 next week.
