This one is going to be for Bobby. Notre Dame is walking into a potential buzz saw of emotion and crowd enthusiasm in the first game at Florida State since the death of Bobby Bowden.
It’s also important to take stock of the changes these programs have gone through in the offseason. The Irish are due for regression after last year’s CFP run, losing top producers everywhere on the field, including four offensive linemen. With transfer QB Jack Coan assuming the starting role, the offense should be more methodical and less explosive, allowing for high-octane teams like Florida State to stick around.
That’s what I expect the identity of the Seminoles to be with elite athlete Jordan Travis at QB, as they averaged 17 more points per game when Travis was available to play last season. The defense is still a question mark, but the transfer portal was kind to FSU so they should be more competent this year. But the play here is mostly about the situational and emotional spot that defines this game, and I see the Seminoles keeping this one close with their explosive offense.

We’ve reached the point in the season where if the big 3 factors all lean towards one team, I can’t not take them with a favorable run line. Those 3 factors are pitching, lineup, and motivation. In this case, they are all leaning towards Chicago in what should be a pretty easy win for them. Dylan Cease has been solid on the mound this year so far for the White Sox, but this one really comes down to being a rubber match that I just don’t see Chicago letting slip from their grasp.
