Tampa just doesn’t mess around against bad teams like the Orioles – or this Oakland squad – and always seem to take care of business to rack up the easy wins. That’s why they’re laying such a heavy price in this one, but it’s definitely justified.
The sneaky-good Rays lineup should dominate A’s starter Paul Blackburn here, who was awful to finish last season and is the 4th starter on a bad team for a reason. Tampa can stack plenty of left-handed bats against Blackburn, which he really struggles with, and should slug their way to an easy win here. I’ll be fading Oakland a lot this season, and this should be an easy parlay leg to check off.
Washington Nationals @ Atlanta Braves (-180): 6:20 PM CT on Bally Sports SE
The Nationals are another team I’m looking to fade early and often this season, especially against a team that can put up runs like Atlanta can. There’s some pop at the top of Washington’s lineup, but the bottom half is about as mild as it gets. That puts them at a significant disadvantage in a game like this that I see being fairly high-scoring.
The Nationals appear to be starting minor-leaguer Josh Rogers tonight in place of Anibal Sanchez, who should get eaten alive by the deep and powerful Atlanta lineup. I’m no big fan of Braves starter Huascar Ynoa, but I just don’t see how the Nats keep up here when their own starter should get shelled. I’ll take the Braves to outslug Washington here and close this parlay.
