MLB (0.5 Unit) Chicago Cubs/Colorado Rockies First 5 Innings Under 6.5 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 7:40 PM CT on MLB.TV

You need to be a sicko to take an under at Coors Field once the summer temperatures start hitting like they are now, but the smart plays in baseball just don’t work much this season so I’m feeling unwell. The good news is that at least the wind is blowing across instead of out, helping to limit fly balls. The best news though is that Chicago can’t hit anything, so no amount of assistance from the weather is going to cure this offense right now.

The Cubs have fallen on hard times at the plate, only averaging 3.5 runs per game the past 20 games, which for reference would put them in dead last by 0.3 per game if extrapolated over a full season. They’re also up against Colorado’s best starter in Tomoyuki Sugano, but will need Colin Rea to hold down the Rockies. But he’s put together three straight good starts against offenses that are top-10 against righties, so a continuation of that will cause this game to fall short of the early total.

WNBA (1 Unit) 2-Team Moneyline Parlay (-110; Odds via BetMGM)

Atlanta Dream (-350) @ Chicago Sky: 6:00 PM CT on ESPN

The Sky are a bet-against team, period. Things are getting out of hand with this squad, now on a 1-6 straight up and 0-7 ATS run without Rickea Jackson. Most of these games aren’t even close, as evidenced by the -8.9 average ATS margin. But I’m not betting into the worst of the number here, as the spread tonight has been steaming hard towards Atlanta since it opened. The Dream have arguably the league’s deepest roster, and they will probably roll in a revenge game for Angel Reese, but using this as a parlay piece feels more comfortable for me.

Dallas Wings @ Minnesota Lynx (-200): 7:00 PM CT on KFAA

The Lynx are rolling now, finally getting all the pieces to fit together without the benefit of Napheesa Collier in the lineup. They have a tough test here against Dallas, but it’s one I feel they can take to continue this 7-game winning streak, and likely improve on the league’s best ATS record. It’s strength-on-strength in this matchup, with Dallas having the best offensive efficiency in the league while Minnesota leads in defensive efficiency. But the Wings continue to struggle defensively, especially on the road, and that’s how the Lynx can pull away in this one. Steam has also hit the number for Minnesota hard, and I agree that they should be decent favorites, but the moneyline is a lot safer and worthwhile in combination with the Dream tonight.
