MLB (0.75 Unit) Chicago White Sox/NY Yankees Over 9.5 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 6:05 PM CT on MLB.TV
I’m pretty surprised to see this total come in below double digits, after the Yankees have put up double-digit runs themselves in the first two games of this series. I’m not sure they can keep up that pace, but the White Sox are definitely primed for some payback in this game after consecutive beatings, especially against Ryan Weathers.
The Yankee lefty has been terrible lately, with 4 of his past 5 starts being blowups where he allowed at least 5 runs. If Chicago can capitalize on that, it will set a very high floor for reaching this total. And the Yankees might just continue their torrid offensive pace, as the wind is blowing hard out to dead center tonight, so I see plenty more runs coming in this rubber match.
MLB (0.5 Unit) LA Angels/Athletics First 5 Innings Under 5.5 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 8:40 PM CT on MLB.TV
I’m scared in general of taking an under at the Triple-A park in Sacramento, especially as two teams with horrible bullpens clash here. But I’m impressed enough with the starters in this game to believe that the first half of this one will be fairly low scoring. Even though he’s fallen off as was expected, Jose Soriano still has the stuff to hold down the Athletics, as he did in his previous start against them this season.
Soriano carries a strong 2.32 ERA on the road, although Sutter Health Park will be challenging to maintain that. I’m also impressed with Gage Jump, as the A’s rookie has several quality starts now and faces an Angels lineup that loves to swing and miss. Maybe the best thing going here though is the wind, as it’s blowing hard in from center which is unusual for this park. These teams that love to swing for the fences will have that wind holding up fly balls, and I think the starters can keep offense suppressed enough to stay under this total.
WNBA (0.5 Unit) Angel Reese Under 12.5 Rebounds (-125; Odds via Fanduel): 6:30 PM CT on Prime Video
Props to Angel Reese for really improving her game overall this season, adding some offense to her excellent rebounding ability. She’s the league-leader in rebounding, but this number is a little too big for her given the situation. The Dream are traveling to Indiana to face the best rebounding team in the league, and it’s an individual matchup that has given Reese trouble in the past.
She has to contend with Aliyah Boston, whose size and strength have given her trouble, including this season when Reese was held to 10 boards. With a season average of 12.3 per game and the imposing Boston leading the elite rebounding ability of the Fever, I’m just not seeing Angel get to this total tonight.
