NBA Summer League (0.75 Unit) Memphis Grizzlies/Golden State Warriors Over 186.5 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 6:00 PM CT on ESPN
This one should be easy with how these teams are playing this summer. The Grizzlies were flashing the offense in a big way up in Salt Lake City, dropping 111 and 100 points in the two games where their true roster played. Now that things have moved to Vegas, their defense has become pretty suspect as they’ve given up 96 points in both of their games, including to a bad Mavericks team.
Memphis has allowed 44.8% shooting from beyond the arc in those two games, which is not ideal for heading into this game. The Warriors have been shooting the lights out en route to 104 and 101 points in their games so far, and I fully believe that will continue here. Both of these teams have been pushing tempo all summer and have elite scorers at their disposal, so a high-scoring affair should be coming tonight.
NBA Summer League (0.5 Unit) Washington Wizards/Chicago Bulls Over 185.5 (-110; Odds via Fanduel): 7:00 PM CT on Prime Video
This one might turn into an open gym scrimmage where defense is totally optional. The Bulls have nothing to really play for anymore after a one-point loss to start the tournament and then a blowout loss last night, so I don’t see a lot of defensive effort from them. This was always going to be a Chicago team with much more interest in offense than defense, and being on no rest will also factor into that.
Facing Washington, a team with elite scoring ability and an up-tempo style, should create a lot of problems for the Bulls tonight. The Wizards should be looking to put it on Chicago here as they’re among the teams positioned to win this event, so I’m also adding a half unit on the Wizards laying 5.5 points in this one. But I think the style of this game and the scoring talent of both squads also carries it over the total.
Bonus Bet (0.5 Unit) Washington Wizards -5.5 vs Chicago Bulls (-110; Odds via Caesars)
Let’s make it official here. It might be the Wizards, laughingstock of the league the past few years, but this team has plenty of young talent to overpower most opponents in this event. Running out a good Kings team on Sunday and getting a day off, while the Bulls were destroyed last night and have to turn around for another elite opponent, give Washington an advantage that I don’t see them squandering.
WNBA (0.5 Unit) Marina Mabrey Over 23.5 Points (-110; Odds via Fanduel): 6:00 PM CT on NBA TV
It’s been quite the couple of weeks for Mabrey, hanging 53 points on LA recently, and then draining a buzzer-beater against the Liberty on Sunday to notch her second straight 30-plus point game. As the focal point of the Toronto offense since they have no options until Brittney Sykes returns next week, Mabrey has the greenest of green lights. She also knows how to fill it up against what is a good Mystics defense, putting up 27 points in both previous meetings this season. Those both came before Sykes was hurt, so now that she doesn’t have to share the scoring load with another lead guard, look for Mabrey to clear this number again tonight.
